When you’re away from home, it’s easy to forget about the self-care and wellness routines that keep you grounded. That’s why we’re intentionally building wellness activities into the A’23 experience. Meditation breaks, a Zen garden, a puppy park, lawn games, chair massages, and more will be part of every day!


At the Architecture Expo

Zen garden, Booth #140
Looking for a quiet place at the Architecture Expo? Stop by the Zen garden for meditation headsets, comfy seating, and daily scheduled wellness breaks, including light stretch and meditation breaks, on Thursday and Friday from 11:30am–12pm & 1–1:30pm.

Puppy park at the AIA Booth, #1535
Get ready for some adorable fun at A’23! At the AIA booth, you can enjoy puppy playtime and spend quality time with cute and amazing dogs. Bonus: Spending time with animals can also reduce stress and lower blood pressure!

Connect + Play, Booth #4103
Take part in some friendly competition with classic lawn games like giant Jenga, cornhole, and a putting green.

Relax & Recharge Lounge, Booth #5133

Relax, rewind, and recharge with chair massages by professional massage therapists, electronic foot massage stations, complimentary device charging, aromatherapy, relaxing spa music, and more offered as the ultimate relaxation experience. Stop by during the following times:

The Roads Less Traveled: Navigating Nontraditional Licensure Paths (TH120)
Thursday, June 8, 2—3:30pm
Panelists will share their program knowledge and personal paths to becoming architects to help potential licensure candidates and encourage firms to recruit a diverse pool of employees for licensure.

Friday, June 9, 4–5pm
The Texas Society of Architects’ Honor Awards Committee gave Early Career Professional Achievement awards to three female architects. They will discuss their career paths, including barriers, successes, and lessons learned.

To Remote or Not Remote? A Tale of Two Firms (SA112)
Saturday, June 10, 10—11am
Two talent-management experts will discuss employee mental health, burnout, return-to-office challenges, staffing needs, and how to resolve remote team communication, collaboration, and recognition challenges.

There are also sessions on designing for health and well-being so you can prioritize it for your clients.
