Jahan Khalighi

Jahan Khalighi is a longtime Bay Area poet, educator, and community arts organizer. He is currently the Director of Programs for Chapter 510, a made-in-Oakland youth creative writing, bookmaking and publishing center that creates a safe space and supportive community for Black, brown and queer youth to bravely write. He has been leading, teaching and coordinating youth programs in the Bay Area since 2006. As a performing poet he has performed his original works at TedXSonoma, Esalen Institute, YBCA, and Bionneers. He has co-founded multiple Bay Area arts collectives and was a community arts presenter at the Venice Bienale in Venice, Italy. He is passionate about the transformative capacity of the arts for social good.
